Greets.
I didn't even know these existed, but yesterday I happened to see a very lovely 6" Celestron Orange Tube SCT for sale in a music store (music of the spheres, I guess).
This probably goes back to the 1960s, but is very well preserved, with spotless optics, an eqatorial wedge, tripod (heavy duty-no shakee), eyepieces (saw some old meade eps from back when meade made them).
There were some counterweights, some camera adapters, barlows, in short, these were one guy's lifetime investment in a telescope. Much of the stuff is in the original Celestron boxes. The mount works (motor runs, etc), there is a power supply for an illuminated reticile and lots of other stuff).
The scope is currently at Amazing Grace Music in San Anselmo (across from United Market on RedHill/Miracle Mile). Not far from George Lucas' house.
The phone number is 415 456-0414. Ask for John. It's his scope.
I wouldn't normally post something like this, except that I would have bought it myself if I didn't have a dob, a refractor and two other celestron sct's. So I figure if it's interesting enough for me, it's interesting enough for you as well.
Thanks.
