Join Jeffrey Van Cleve, NASA Ames Research Center astronomer and support scientist, for a presentation on Worlds in Collision: The Hazard & Promise of Near-Earth Objects. Van Cleve will discuss his work on the Yarkovksy Effect and how thermal properties affect the probability that a Near-Earth Object (NEO) will hit Earth. Concepts for finding and deflecting NEOs will be explained, as well as the prospects for mining NEOs for water and other resources.
