Hello Star Gazers. It's Saturday, December 27th.
Happy Winter Solstice and New Years!
Taken almost verbatim from the Hot line:
Well, we don't have fog, but we do have clouds sweeping majestically over Mt. Tam.
Tonights Special Use of the Rock Springs parking lot is canceled.
What is "on" however is our fabulous dinner at Delancy Street at 6 pm on Saturday January
24th. Go to the SFAA-astronomy.org website and check out the menu.
Another thing to check out is Saturn. Culmination is at 5:20 am tomorrow morning.
You can find Saturn's rings edge on by finding the backward question mark of Leo
Find Regulus and go ~ 8 o'clock and 10 degrees or a fist to the left and down to find
Saturn. You won't see it this way again edge on until the year 2038!
Last item; something to prep for on New Year's Day. Hold an impromptu solar side walk
astronomy event on the first day of the year where ever you want. Just make sure you use a
safe solar filter or telescope for the event and let us know about it.
That's all for now. Happy New Year from the SFAA.
