City Star Parties

City Star Parties – Pt Lobos / Lands End, San Francisco throughout the non-foggy season.  As of 2014, summer City Star Party events may be held at other locations such as the Randall Museum.  Check the calendar for details.

Come out and join us for a great viewing range and low light conditions.  Prior to sun-down we hold a telescope clinic where members can bring their scope questions and have the collective wisdom of your fellow members help guide you.

Have a specific telescope question? Contact us before the party to make sure someone has expertise to help you.  Check out our Calendar for the next city star party. See you there!

Here’s how to get to our Pt. Lobos observing location:
Northbound on the Great Highway, follow the highway as it becomes Point Lobos Avenue and passes the Cliff House. After you pass a small road called Merrie Way, take the next left onto El Camino Del Mar and follow the road uphill. You will pass Seal Rock Street on your right and will see a “Not a Through Street” sign and another sign for Fort Miley. Continue until the road ends in a parking lot.

You can also use GPS coordinates 37.7830 / -122.5109 to find the location in Google Maps.

Marker A in the satellite image below shows the location.

Land's End Observing Site

To get our observing location at Land’s End via public transit, ride the 38 outbound on Geary all the way to the end of the line at 48th Ave.  Walk north up 48th and cross Point Lobos Ave, and continue north on El Camino Del Mar until you arrive at the northern lot.
