City Star Parties

City Star Parties – held at Pt Lobos / Lands End, San Francisco or other locations such as the Randall Museum, the Exploratorium or the Presidio.  Check the calendar for details.

Come out and join us for a great viewing range and low light conditions.  On selected months, prior to sun-down we hold a telescope clinic where members can bring their scope questions and have the collective wisdom of your fellow members help guide you.

Have a specific telescope question? Contact us before the party to make sure someone has expertise to help you.  Check out our Calendar for the next city star party. See you there!

Be sure to check the SFAA Calendar for the exact location for this month’s star party; venues include Point Lobos, the Exploratorium, the Parade Grounds in the Presidio, and the Randall Museum.

Here’s how to get to our Pt. Lobos observing location:
Northbound on the Great Highway, follow the highway as it becomes Point Lobos Avenue and passes the Cliff House. After you pass a small road called Merrie Way, take the next left onto El Camino Del Mar and follow the road uphill. You will pass Seal Rock Street on your right and will see a “Not a Through Street” sign and another sign for Fort Miley. Continue until the road ends in a parking lot.

You can also use GPS coordinates 37.7830 / -122.5109 to find the location in Google Maps.

Marker A in the satellite image below shows the location.

Land's End Observing Site
